Quarante

Quarante, a charming historic village nestled near the Canal du Midi in the Occitanie region, formerly known as Languedoc, invites you into its warm embrace. Positioned approximately 30 minutes from Béziers or Narbonne by car, and just an hour from Carcassonne or Montpellier, Quarante is a haven where old-world charm seamlessly blends with modern conveniences.

Having called this village home for over 14 years, I've come to appreciate its friendly character and the perfect mix of quaint traditions and contemporary amenities. A thriving year-round community, Quarante boasts various shops, schools, a pharmacy, hairdressers, post office, butchers, and, of course, a welcoming boulangerie and lively café. The village, surrounded by picturesque vineyards, deeply embraces the rich wine-growing culture embedded in its history.

Quarante is situated on the border of the Aude department, around 20 kilometers west of Béziers and 25 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast. The Canal du Midi runs to the south of the village. Quarante is bordered by the municipalities of Cébazan to the north, Creissan to the north and northeast, Puisserguier to the east, Capestang to the southeast, Ouveillan to the south, and Cruzy to the west.

The vineyards in the communal area are part of the Saint-Chinian wine-producing region.
